Celebrity spottings in Hollywood?

Im thinking of going to Hollywood/Los Angeles sometime next year. If I am just cruising around, is it easy to spot a celebrity? I would like to go and see a few stars. If I went, what would you say my chances are of seeing some famous people? Where would you see them?

    Try Mr Chows restaurant or an L.A. Lakers game…

    Hmmm, few and far between. Try shopping on Robertson, and go to the BACK doors where they come in private entrances.

    Most celebrities aren’t just strutting down the sidewalk. Make a reservation at the Ivy on Roberston, and then go shopping at Kitson or Lisa Kline on Robertson. Probably your best bet to see someone. Or the grocery store, thats where I see most celebrities.

    Most celebrities, especially the A listers, protect their privacy. They rarely go out in public unless it is an event they are appearing. Occasionally one can be seen, but not often.

    If you do happen to see one out in public, the proper etiquette is to leave them alone. Don’t scream, gush, ask for an autograph, or try to talk to them. Some are nice about it, but you could find yourself quickly removed from the premesis. Most often, they can be spotted dining out, shopping, or doing other mundane things. Many times, they are “dressed down”, wearing jeans, tees, sunglasses, and a hat. I’ve lived here for decades, and don’t see them often at all. Even though I work across the street from Warner Bros. studios, it’s not like I see one regularly.

    If you want to try spotting one, try these spots:

    Gelson’s Market
    Pink’s Hot Dogs
    Canter’s Deli
    Spago
    The Ivey

    You can definitely spot a few celebs at Laker games. Especially Jack.

    Don’t try to get into one of the nightclubs they hang out in. You’ll never get past the velvet rope unless you have a few Benjamins to throw at the doorman. But if you had that kind of dough, I doubt you would be hanging around this forum.

    You won’t see anyone in Hollywood, except alot of homeless people and bums…. don’t bother going there:) …. Your chances of seeing a celebrity are slim to none, but probably best in the Rodeo Drive area, or at the Beverly Hills Hotel. You’ll need to shop or eat at places that you can’t really afford - lol ….. Why don’t you try to get tickets to the filming of some tv shows? That’s the only guaranteed way to see a star:)

    the grove is also a place you might see someone.

    It’s obviously hard to know where you’d see a celebrity, but some of the advice previously given here is great. Your best bet is to pick some high-end stores/restaurants. Some good places;

    - Mauro’s Cafe (at Fred Segal) on Melrose…frequented by celebrities at lunchtime. Also, just walk around the stores at Fred Segal, many celebrities shop there.
    - Barney’s Greengrass (on top of Barney’s department store in Beverly Hills) is another celebrity-frequented lunch spot. Also, walk around the store itself, as I’ve seen a number of celebrities shopping there.
    - Robertson Blvd. - check out Kitson, Lisa Kline, and if you can eat dinner at The Ivy, your chances of spotting a celebrity are pretty high.
    - Some other restaurants I frequently see celebrities;
    - Matsuhisa
    - Mr. Chow
    - Spago
    - Katsuya (either the one in Brentwood or Hollywood)
    - Koi
    - Il Fornaio
    - Nobu (Malibu)
